Ideas of the week!
November 3, 2004: AWW SHIT. So I was wrong and what do we get? Bush, another 4 years! This is so dissapointing. That whole time I watched the election last night till 2 a.m. It felt like you were dowloading something you really liked on a slow internet connection and just before it was finished and you were ready to enjoy that piece of satisfaction, BOOM your computer crashes or your internet connection fails or you accidently click close. It was so close at a couple points I was ready to jump out of my skin if Kerry would've won. This whole Ohio as "last years' Florida", as sure as I knew Kerry couldn't get it, I still held on to that hope of possibly, out of a miracle, he could. I found out at school the horrible news and my day was ruined.
What does this mean? Well Bush has another 4 years to continue his wrath of terror and equally so, to fuck our country up even more. He will continue to control our media through Clear Channel, the Patriot Act will still be with us along with Asscroft, separation of church and state could be nothing more than a dream now that a bunch of Christian fanatics might as well think of him as a prophet instead of a "president". Our civil rights and our Constitution is going to continue being in danger, along with our ecosystem...and a lot more countless possibilities.
We can't trust a president who says "There should be limits on freedom." and "This would be easier if this were a dictatorship and I was the dictator."-W. Bush, 2001. He's practically living his dream already. Democracy is dead.
October 25, 2004: With the election only 8 days away, we have much to anticipate. In my personal opinion I think Kerry will win just by a smidgen. Many news channels and stations have said that Kerry won all 3 debates, which I believe, but there are still others who think (oddly enough) that it was a tie... A lot of the answers from both men were just like a game of tetherball on who could degrade and expose the wrongs the other did more. Politicians lie, the government sucks, but we need Bush out and Kerry seems to be the only hope...too bad, but those are the only options we are left with.
I was in Globe about 2 weeks ago and just being there also made an impression. The little town I was in is so liberal, everywhere I turned I saw people and little kids with stickers of Kerry and Edwards on their shirts and bumper stickers too. And according to my mom, many people are now voting on a new hope rather than on being scared. Well we'll see what happens...
June 14, 2004: Nader is taking away Kerry votes. It is obvious, and has been said thousands of times, but it is true. I am happy I am just underage of voting, because I am pretty stumped. Fuck.
June 13, 2004: If Kerry doesn't come up with a decent economic plan, then the point in voting for him would solely be for voting against Bush. He does have better plans supporting our rights though. So basically: Fuck Bush, and Fuck Kerry a little less than Bush. Bad election year. Nader should be a democrat.
Where we stand on these topics:
Gay rights: All strongly support it. Nathan is a long-time member of GLAAD.
Human Rights: Strongly support, all of us.
Animal Rights: Nathan= Very strong supporter, PETA2 member and vegan. Alex supports. Danny strongly supports animal rights, but enjoys eating meat, kinda hypocritical huh? whatever everyone has their flaws.
Our Constitution: We support it! Don't fuck with it!
The Left: We are enjoy liberal books, bands, movies, comedy, etc. ex: Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore, Howard Zinn, Al Franken, Lewis Black, Jello Biafra and more. Lesser of the two evils basically.
The Right: As of now, we don't support it much at all. Nathan's father is a strong believer of Socialism, and admits the bullshit of the Republican side at the moment.
